JEE Main (April 2020) revised dates announced

JEE Main (April 2020) to be conducted on 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th April for admission to Undergraduate programs in IITs, NITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions for the session 2020-21 was postponed as a precautionary measure against COVID-19.


NTA has announced fresh dates for the examination:


Examination Dates - 01.09.2020 to 06.09.2020


Exams will be conducted in two shifts: 9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon and 3:00 PM to 06:00 PM.


JEE Mains is conducted twice a year – in January and April, for admission to Undergraduate programs in NITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions in the next academic session and is also a qualifying exam for JEE Advanced for admission in IITs. First JEE Mains 2020 will be conducted between 6th January (Monday) and 11th January (Saturday) and the Second JEE(Main)-2020 will be conducted between 3rd April (Friday) and 9th April (Thursday). Candidates have an option of appearing in either of the two or in both and the final rank will be based on best of the two scores. Examinations will be held in “Computer Based Test” (CBT) Mode only, except that the Drawing Test for B.Arch. which will be held in “Pen & Paper” mode. The medium of Question Paper shall be in English, Hindi and Gujarati.


Eligibility


Age Limit

For appearing in the JEE (Main) examination there is no age limit for the candidates. The candidates who have passed class 12th / equivalent examination in 2018, 2019 or appearing in 2020 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE (Main) examination – 2020.

Qualifying Examinations

  • The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized central/ State Board

  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University

  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy

  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.

  • Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or in any foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

  • Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.

  • A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least 3 year duration. [Only for Admission to IITs]

  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level. [Only for Admission to IITs]

  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva. [Only for Admission to IITs]

Only those candidates who have passed their Class 12th Examination or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2018 or 2019; or those who are appearing in their Class 12th Examination or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2020 are eligible to appear in JEE(Main)-2020 Examination.


Candidates must note that the IITs permit only two attempts for the JEE (Advanced), i.e. a candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2019 or 2020, subject to the condition of not having been admitted at an IIT on earlier occasion. Exam Analysis


Exam Duration – 3 hrs

Mode of Examination – Computer Based Test (CBT) except Drawing Test for B.Arch. which will be held in “Pen & Paper” mode

Negative Marking - +4 marks for correct answer and -1 marks for wrong answer, Zero marks for unanswered for MCQ

No negative marking for Numerical Value type questions
